The official Glade feedback thread

This is the new home of the (in)famous GladeTalk forum. Glade Festival is Britain's biggest and best non-corporate electronic dance music festival, with a proper havin' it vibe. Chinstrokers need not apply. Have you given feedback for the organisers yet?

wicked, new Glade lovers FTW ..

that is how the festival will keep its vibe, by seeing how its done, and how things shouldbe done by the other people.

Behaviour breeds behaviour, and I know that after the first GLade my personallity changed a little bit more for the better

this was the best glade since 2005.

weather was great, people were great.

i had a great time, only problem was the sound levels...these are absoultely shocking for a dance music festival.

imho its time to move away from the wasing estate.

its too restricted and there are plenty of other sites in the uk that would not have such third reich restrictions.

People are seriously getting pissed off with the sound level problem. We are the punters, we pay for the festival. How about the organisers not only listen to the concerns but do something about them. This sound issue is a main one and needs to be sorted out. I fail to see why the organisers love wasing estate so much. its not that great. there are plenty of other uk sites just as nice or even better....makes me think why the organisers jeopardise peoples enjoyment by insisting on staying at wasing.

People will stop going if the sound is that bad, and the festival could fold.

Top top top top top time! Best one yet I think!

Ok maybe there was sound issues on day 1 at Bangface. I caught the techno tent instead which stopped me caring.

What a AWESOME time. I honestly think this years Glade has made me a better person. Bring on next year I say!

HELL..... YEAH!

There's more discussion on the Wasing/sound issue at should-glade-move-from-wasing-t5889.html and complaints-about-the-sound-glade-2008-t5910.html

All discussion on these issues is being moved to those threads (which will also be brought to the organisers' attention) to keep this one clear for feedback posts. Thanks.

I said exactly the same thing to my mate on the Sunday!
Cracking people, good times and a refreshing outlook from the daily grind. Sometimes you forget what it's like to be nice just for the sake of being nice and the fact that you have a choice on how you interact with people. I certainly do sometimes sadly.

No more though I say!

Awesome festival yet again! can't beat 05 & 06 for weather. Yeah, really missed the purple guy but lots of happy shiney people made it for me, (and the girl who insisted on kissing absolutely everyone at the festival - can't imagine she managed it but 10/10 for effort!) Best festival on the circuit for me - see you next year.

OK guys, thanks for a fabulous Glade, my personal best since 2005 (didn't go in 2004).

The lack of crowds was a definite plus this year. It was certainly good for us punters even if it was bad news for you financially. Personally I would prefer the festival to be around this size (or 12,000 max), even if that means less big-name artists there. This year felt like a return to the roots of Glade - and it was all the better for it.

I think losing the open-air Glade Stage and merging it with the Vapor Stage, to effectively bring back the old Main Dance Tent, was the correct decision for this year, given the smaller crowds and generally cool weather. But if it's going to be one big tent again next year, please bring back the giant inflatable octopus, that was a nice touch in '05.

I realise the decor was probably one of the first victims of the budget cuts, but the lack of art installations near the main stages meant that the path around them was pitch black at times. If you can't afford to have art like the illuminated glitterballs etc of previous years, then please consider having some lighting along that stretch.

Origin Stage - although I'm not a massive psy-trance fan, especially of the sort that gets played at the Origin Stage, it does seem to be becoming more marginalised each year, especially by tucking it away in a corner and skimping on decor compared to previous years. This is a shame, as the psy people there help give the Glade so much of its positive vibes, not to mention the pretty girls that stage seems to attract ;). It's great that the Glade has reached out to other branches of the rave culture - but if the Glade forgets its roots, the psy-trancers will go elsewhere and the whole vibe will change for the worse IMO.
On a related point, there is a small element that has no concept of Peace, Love, Unity and Respect. Their motto seems to be Fuck You, I'll Do What I Fucking Well Please, You Cunts. Glastonbury has a very firm policy of ejection for anti-social behaviour. Maybe security could be empowered to do the same at Glade?

Water taps - there were none near the main stages, despite them being shown on the map. :nono:

Oh yes, and whatever happened to the naked dude?

I have to agree i feel like it has changed my outlook almost without sounding brainwashed! Just goes to show how lovely other people can be when they all put their mind to it :) If only the real world was like that!

I had a wicked time and so did all the gang I went with. I personally thought the sound was better than last year, but obviously I wasn't in all tents all of the time. Loads of nice peeps as usual. :D

Agree with what Sperge said. Went with a few people who hadnt been this year and was explaining where the Origin Stage was sited in previous years and i felt it had been relegated down the hill, probably for sound issues. As i was telling them i felt a bit sad about it as that was normally the heart of the festival and this year it just didnt feel that way. Sitting under the tree next to the old site was a great way to spend the afternoon chillin. The amount of times over the years i had been sucked in by Origin and missed so many artists i wanted see on other stages because of it , but this year i found it very easy to wander by. Now that was great for my strategically planned must see checklist but thinking about it today i feel i missed that part of Glade. Perhaps it was the more techy feel to the tunes as im not 'up' with the psy scene and i only really get my fix at Glade, music changes i understand that, but there wasnt much 'fluffyness' about the place lol.

Ive calmed down now about the sound issues and though it still isnt right the Festi is still without doubt the highlight of my year.

Sad its over can't wait till next year
Been since 2004 and thought this year was not as good as 2005 or 2006.

Really liked the lack of crowds and space for camping
Liked the main stage being a tent as sound was better
Line up in Overkill on sat was EXCELLENT

Didn't like
Lack of sound-I like to FEEL the music in the overkill and it wasn't that loud.
Too much "happy hardcore-ish" music in overkill- I like it dark and dirty!!
NO NaKED PAINTED MAN!!!!

Will be coming next year again for sure.

this was the best glade i have ever been to

pros:

meeting strongbad
somebody making a toilet roll trumpet and playing music at me
spinning light sticks at autechre
seeing vex'd
tumbling down the rabbit hole
throwing up on poppers

cons:

seeing too many beautiful women
something about the levels. i dunno. we are the fucking level in a way.
not much else
basically all good. few downers when there was light rain? did i imagine that?

Definitely agree with the more water taps near main stages. When I stewarded at Glade this was always the top issue.

Also, why was that water tap near the origin stage hidden past the urinals?

Glastonbury put down a small pile of chunky hardcore at each tap, stops it turning into a mudbath around it, that would be a great idea for next year.

Didn't witness any problems from security this year, saw them walking around, but they didn't seem too intrusive from what I saw, hope the balance is maintained in the future.

"Come&Play" tent should not be cited in "Quiet Camping", destroyed my sleep on a couple of mornings. Alternative is to stick sound policy on this and open at 1200 or something.

You only needed to ask Welfare tent had free earplugs.

The only 'watchtowers' were those occupied by the Oxfam fire stewards .
